As Enerjisa Üretim Santralleri A.Ş. and its subsidiaries (together Enerjisa Üretim); we are committed to generate social value in every field of operation, aligning with our mission “Producing energy for a better future with respect for life” by addressing the needs and challenges of the society we live in. Through this Social Responsibility Policy, we aim to act responsibly, respecting and protecting the rights of individuals and communities, and addressing emerging needs.
This policy, applies to all social activities of Enerjisa Üretim -both at the local or national levels- at its headquarters, power plant operations and renewable energy investment sites.
Social Responsibility Principles
In line with the national legal requirements and international social performance standards, we carry out our operations and shape our projects according to the UNSDGs, uided by the principles below:
- Principle of Do No Harm: Ensures that non of the local communities and or relevant stakeholders are adversely affected from operations of the company; where avoidance is not possible operates in order to compansate or minimize the negative impacts.
- Priciple of Participation and Transparency: Aims to build and maintain strong relations with the local stakeholders, adhereing to the participation and transparency principles in all communications.
- Principle of Social Respect: Considers the sensitive dynamics of the local contexts when making desicions that concerns the local stakeholders, acts and develops projects accordingly with the socio-cultural structure of the region.
- Principle of Creation of Social Value: Designs and implements projects that contribute to the local well-being, in alignment with the sustainbaility approach.
In accordance with these principles we carry out our social responsibility activities in 7 main social themes:
- Education: In collabartion with educational instiutions at primary, secondary and higher education levels, priority is given to capaciy-building activities that adress the needs of children and youth, as well as practices that support the technical capacity of schools and institutions.
- Regional Development: We implement development projects through collabrations with the local institutions and organizations in line with the needs of the communities that live in our energy production and renewable energy investment sites.
- Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods: Based on the demands and needs of stakeholders at both individual and community levels, we design and implement initiatives that facilitate access to livelihoods, improve employability, and enhance vocational skills.
- Gender Equility and Inclusion: In our operations we ensure to prevent gender-based discrimination. In this context we aim to support equal rights, oppurtunities and access to resources, to adopt practices that promote gender equality and re-evaluation of gender roles. Capacity-building trainings, awareness rising initiatives and other supporting projects are developed to advance gender equality in areas such as education and employement.
- Health and Well-being: We carry out activities that support the rasie of public health awareness and strenghten access to healthcare services for our stakeholders at both individual and community levels.
- Culture and Environment: Nature conservation, environmental sustainability, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy resources are core areas of focus in our operations. Accordingly, we also develop proactive, leading, and innovative practices addressing these issues at the societal level. We actively engage in initiatives related to ecosystem protection, afforestation, animal welfare, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, and sustainable agriculture.
- Partnerships and Collabarations: We believe that in order for our social responsibility initiatives to be implemented effectively and yield the highest-quality outcomes, establishing collaborations and partnerships with all stakeholders across the above mentioned themes is crucial. In this regard, we give precedence to partnerships with competent public institutions and organizations, academia, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
Implementation and Responsibility
The succesful implementation of this policy is under the responsibility of Corporate ocial Relations Unit, with the involvement of Corporate Corporate Communications Department, Human and Culture Department, and the Sustainability Department where necessary.
In this regard Enerjisa Üretim will:
- Provide mandotary trainings and dissemination resources to ensure that all employes understand ad support this policy.
- Regularly review and asses our opreations and policies to ensure compliance.
Reporting
In alignment wih the Principle of Transparency and Accountability, Enerjisa Üretim peripdically reviews all activities, projects and initiatves carried out under this Policy, conducts impact assesments on a periodic and/or annual basis and reports results accordingly.
